On factorization, quark counting and vector dominance

چکیده
Using an eikonal structure for the scattering amplitude, Block and Kaidalov[1] have derived factorization theorems for nucleon-nucleon, γp and γγ scattering at high energies, using only some very general assumptions. We present here an analysis giving experimental confirmation for factorization of cross sections, nuclear slope parameters B and ρ-values (ratio of real to imaginary portion of forward scattering amplitudes), showing that: • the three factorization theorems[1] hold, • the additive quark model holds to ≈ 1%, • and vector dominance holds to better than ≈ 4%. Consequences of the Factorization Hypothesis in p̄p , pp , γp and γγ Collisions
Using an eikonal analysis, we examine the validity of the factorization theorem for nucleon-nucleon, γp and γγ collisions. As an example, using the additive quark model and meson vector dominance, we directly show that for all energies and values of the eikonal, that the factorization theorem σnn/σγp = σγp/σγγ holds. We can also compute the survival probability of large rapidity gaps in high en...
متن کاملSome implications of meson dominance in weak interactions
The hypothesis is scrutinized that the weak interaction of hadronic systemsat low energies is dominated by the coupling of the pseudoscalar, vector, andaxial-vector mesons to the weak gauge bosons. The strength of the weakcoupling of the ρ(770) meson is uniquely determined by vector-meson dom-inance in electromagnetic interactions; flavor and chiral symmetry breakingeffects ...
متن کاملSADDLE POINT VARIATIONAL METHOD FOR DIRAC CONFINEMENT
A saddle point variational (SPV ) method was applied to the Dirac equation as an example of a fully relativistic equation with both negative and positive energy solutions. The effect of the negative energy states was mitigated by maximizing the energy with respect to a relevant parameter while at the same time minimizing it with respect to another parameter in the wave function. The Cornell pot...
متن کاملMultipole Expansion in Quantum Chromodynamics
A generalized formalism of QCD multipole expansion including constituent quark field quantization is proposed. It can be applied to study soft-gluon emission processes of heavy quark-antiquark systems with quark flavor changing or quark pair annihilation. As an application, the radiative decays J/t+h + 7 + 77 and J/t) --t 7+7r” are studied in this framework. It is shown that J/$ + 7+~ is domina...
متن کاملConstituent Quark-based Linear Σ Model (lσm) Quark and Scalar Mesons, Vector Meson Dominance
After describing the SU(2) linear sigma model (LσM), we dynamically generate it using the B.W. Lee null tadpole sum (characterizing the true vacuum) together with the dimensional regularization lemma. Next we generate the chiral-limiting (CL) nonstrange and strange constituent quark masses m̂ = 325.7 MeV; ms = 486 MeV away from the CL. Finally, we study vector meson dominance (VMD) and the pion,...
